1964/65 | Home changing room converted to Bar (Compton Club). Felix Austin (Chair) takes the lead in recognising the long-term future of the Club requires a firm financial footing which the Bar can provide and does so over many years. (Source Bryan Parsons). |

1969s late | New Changing rooms provided in the area that is now occupied by the Casely Pavilion. The Changing rooms were the re-cycled Stewards hut from the Larkhill (Yeovil) Greyhound track! |
1970 | Compton Park (Cricket Ground) secured by Sixty-year lease at a rent of £5.00 per annum payable on the first of January. Subsequently became a bottle of port at the Annual Dinner and Dance. (Source Lease documents held by Terry Deacon) It is understood that the lease was necessary as a condition of a loan to deliver the Toilet Block (see below). |
1972 | CHCC enters Haig Cup. Dorset semi-finalists 1975, 1981 and 1982. |
1974 | Toilet Block built. Earth closet et al enclosed but remain! |
1975 | Dinner and Dance takes place at the Digby Hall Sherborne. CHCC Bar utilised for this event and for many more years to come.to provide the vital source of financial income for the Club. Felix Austin’s legacy is borne out – see entry for 1964/65. |
1976 | Club enters and win Sport for All six aside indoor cricket competition at Sherborne Boys School. |
1976/77 | Club enters National six aside indoor cricket competition. Dorset Champions and South West runner up. Indoor cricket features into the 1980s. |
1977 | Large safe transported in a “horse box” from Sherborne Council Offices to CHCC to be used as a secure stowage for trophies and bar stock. Techniques drawn from Stonehenge were also employed! |
1977 | Queen Elizabeth’s Silver Jubilee – oak trees planted in south west corner of the ground. |
1980s early | Electricity supply connected. The demise of the Gas Mantle was a driving factor. |
1980/81 | Children’s Play Park/area constructed. Safety fence used at a later date for an early iteration of Nets. |
